[Taking Stock] July - Sept | 2019

'Taking Stock' is a mini self check series which documents my thoughts in a repeatable format and take stock of the past 3 months. You can see my last posts here and here

Making a bigger effort to write. 24 hours don't seem to be enough! (Then again, Beyoncé has 24 hours so...)

Cooking more vegetables (more out of actual interest than obligation.) I watched Game Changers - something about that show flipped a switch for me!

Missing Uganda!

Drinking Matcha tea. I really like it, surprisingly, I enjoy it too.

Reading HBR's 10 must reads on Diversity

Wanting to watch Lena Waithe's Queen and Slim movie. The trailer is the truth. Also -- check out Queen's quote:

“I want a guy to show me myself. I want him to love me so deeply, I’m not afraid to show him how ugly I can be. I want him to show me scars I never knew I had. But I don’t want him to make them go away. I want him to hold my hand while I nurse them myself. And I want him to cherish the bruises they leave behind.”

Deciding what fitness regimes suit me best - woah! Sibyangu!

Enjoying spring time. Thankfully it doesn't feel like summer, yet!

Waiting for Harriet, Cynthia Erivo's most recent movie! Also, can we please talk about her voice? She's a phenomenal singer.

Liking how nice this past winter has felt. It wasn't as biting cold as expected, and therefore not uncomfortable and restrictive.

Pondering what I'm going to do with these remaining days left in this decade. This DECADE! Wow!

Watching Sebastian Maniscalco's stand up comedy! SO GOOD!

Hoping to stay consistent with content creation, among other things.

Marvelling at all the talented, undiscovered and underrated artists that Colors and Tiny Desk Concert continues to showcase on YouTube.

Playing with ideas for t-shirts with text in a few Ugandan local languages or Uglish - so cool!

Needing a bit of a holiday! It's so busy right now! (Not complaining though - busy is good!)

Smelling gardenias. I wonder why there aren't as many gardenia notes in perfumes these days

Wearing less jeans. More dresses, skirts just because

Following Dave Ramsey's content a lot more lately. He's onto something with those financial gems.

Feeling excited about 'Clap When you Land' the new book by Elizabeth Acevedo that will be published in May 2020

Clap When You Land - Elizabeth Acevedo (Author)

Admiring one of my very close friend's tenacity to withstand really hard times.

Buying more books. It's exciting.

Getting ready for the end of the year. Somehow, October to December rushes by in a blink of an eye. It's exciting - woot woot!

Bookmarking more good pieces from Thought Catalogue. Great content!

Disliking how most people think that for someone to be an a**, they first need to grab your a**.

Opening up my mind to a basic skin routine! I've never done anything specific for a great skin routine experience - but I'm at a point where I'm enjoying it for the self care element. I'm enjoying it.

Snacking on Harvest's pea snaps (original salt) and roasted chick peas - who knew?

Coveting a pair of clear Chanel sandals I came across recently! They're so beaut.

Wishing on a star that will just maybe, help me to take a liking to fitness and exercise

Helping younger women interested in STEM by sharing resources (online, books, groups, clubs, meetup) I have with them.

Hearing myself more through the thoughts I have, and being conscious not to believe everything I think. Easier said than done, hey?

If you occasionally take stock of your own life, but want to do so in a more tangible format, here's the original list :-)
